Trade Order Management Associate

Position Summary:

The Trade Order Management Associate is primarily responsible for accurately managing and maintaining the trade blotter in our order management system, Charles River (CRD).  This includes reviewing all orders sent to the blotter for accuracy and appropriateness, collaborating internally to address any compliance restrictions, routing approved orders to our outsourced trading desk for execution, and preparing all orders for post-trade processing.  The position will also be responsible for contributing to commission management, trade cost analysis, and operational initiatives.  Internally, associates will respond as needed to support requests initiated by colleagues in other departments, providing a positive contribution to all firm and departmental initiatives and goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Review all orders sent to the trade blotter for accuracy and appropriateness, route approved orders to our outsourced trading desk, and allocate orders to participating accounts upon completion.
  • Contribute to the portfolio management process by reviewing portfolio cash levels and portfolio composition reports daily, identifying potential differences that may result in performance dispersion.
  • Liaise with the portfolio managers and compliance team to adjudicate any compliance restrictions for active orders on the trade blotter.
  • Generate orders in CRD to accommodate client-initiated deposits and withdrawals.
  • Provide support to the portfolio managers with their order generation process on an as needed basis.
  • Collaborate internally and with the trading desk to monitor progress towards commission objectives.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly reviews of order execution and trade cost analysis.
  • Ability to learn from mistakes, promptly resolve issues, and adapt processes to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or requested by managers, executives, etc.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with KCM’s order management system, Charles River (CRD).
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Three to five years of investment management related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
